The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, on Thursday alleged of plans by President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, to frame the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2019 elections.

Imo Ugochinyere , CUPP spokesperson, in a statement sent to DAILY POST, said APC has commenced “the branding of some vehicles with the colours of the opposition bearing the photos of these opposition leaders and have acquired arms which will be hidden in the vehicles and the vehicles will be driven to join the campaign convoy of the opposition consensus candidate in Kwara, Kogi and Adamawa to frame Atiku for the crimes of gun running and violence.”

The statement read in part: “Also targeted in the plot are the senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Senator Dino Melaye and other opposition leaders.

“Elements of the ruling party have commenced the branding of somevehicles with the colours of the opposition bearing the photos of these opposition leaders and have acquired arms which will be hidden in the vehicles and the vehicles will be driven to join the campaign convoy of the opposition consensus candidate in Kwara, Kogi and Adamawa and other parts of the country where they have also selected. The vehicles will eventually be searched by the Police and the arms identified.

“Their plot will include mobilizing thugs and causing violence on the day of such identification so as to tag the opposition as violent. The APC are aware Nigerians now know them for their violence which has trailed their campaigns nationwide. Their internal crisis and grab power by all means attitude has catalyzed their rejection by Nigerians and they desire to break all the laws to cast the opposition in bad light.

“On poll day, part of their plot include also to use more of thesebranded vehicles loaded with thugs to disrupt voting and collation in some centres and blame the opposition for violence and disruption of the process which will lead to mass arrest of opposition leaders to give the ruling party an advantage to rig and deny the people the opportunity to give their preferred candidates their mandate. A special security unit being coordinated by the Minister of interior Abdulrahman Dambazzau has already been set up and has commenced work to execute this dastardly plot.

“The security agencies are hereby put on notice that Nigerians will not accept any breach of security being orchestrated by elements of the ruling party disguised in whichever form they choose.

“Nigerians are put on notice to be watchful and vigilant to see through the evil plans of the ravenous group of rulers we have in our country today. They should not be deterred. Their songs of war and plot to rig the elections will be resisted as the Opposition Code 20 will neutralize all their plots.

“APC is already in morbid fear of losing elections and all their shenanigans are like the last futile kicks of a dying horse. Nigerians are also called upon to remain firm and resolute as there are
yet many members within the ruling party and in very high positions that are fed up with the government and daily supply us with relevant leaks and information to counter all their evil plans.

“A lot more of the information are being utilized quietly to neutralize them. This government has failed and Nigerians are no longer in doubt that they are going out on 16th February.”

#OndoDecides2020: Results From 16 LGs Declared, Two Being Awaited

As of 12.30 p.m. on Sunday, 16 local government areas have been announced in the Ondo State governorship election held on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Twelve of the results were declares early on Sunday and when the commission reconvened after a four-hour break, four other local governments were announced by their various collation officers.

The four local governments that were just announced were Ose, Okitipupa, Ondo West and Odigbo, bringing the number of local governments declared to be 16 while the remaining two are being awaited as of the time of this report.

#OndoDecides2020: INEC Collates Results In 14 LGAs

With 2,936 polling units results submitted out of 3,009 units as at 8.16 am, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has completed collation of results in 14 Local Government Areas, LGAs, of Ondo State in the governorship election held on Saturday, October 10.

Polling, it would be recalled commenced at 8.00 am on the election day and progressed till 4.00 pm. Immediately voting stopped, the Commission began sorting of the ballots and counted same in each polling units.

The results of the votes scored by each of the political parties were recorded in Form E8 and uploaded to the newly introduced INEC Results Collation Portal, using the Z-Pad technology.

 

With the introduction of the Z-Pad, INEC is some steps away from full-blown electronic election in the country, as the new technology has made collation of election seamless and flawless, with the tendency of hoodlums highjacking election results on the way to collation centres, completely eliminated.
