The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, on Thursday alleged of plans by President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, to frame the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2019 elections.

Imo Ugochinyere , CUPP spokesperson, in a statement sent to DAILY POST, said APC has commenced “the branding of some vehicles with the colours of the opposition bearing the photos of these opposition leaders and have acquired arms which will be hidden in the vehicles and the vehicles will be driven to join the campaign convoy of the opposition consensus candidate in Kwara, Kogi and Adamawa to frame Atiku for the crimes of gun running and violence.”

The statement read in part: “Also targeted in the plot are the senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Senator Dino Melaye and other opposition leaders.

“Elements of the ruling party have commenced the branding of somevehicles with the colours of the opposition bearing the photos of these opposition leaders and have acquired arms which will be hidden in the vehicles and the vehicles will be driven to join the campaign convoy of the opposition consensus candidate in Kwara, Kogi and Adamawa and other parts of the country where they have also selected. The vehicles will eventually be searched by the Police and the arms identified.

“Their plot will include mobilizing thugs and causing violence on the day of such identification so as to tag the opposition as violent. The APC are aware Nigerians now know them for their violence which has trailed their campaigns nationwide. Their internal crisis and grab power by all means attitude has catalyzed their rejection by Nigerians and they desire to break all the laws to cast the opposition in bad light.

“On poll day, part of their plot include also to use more of thesebranded vehicles loaded with thugs to disrupt voting and collation in some centres and blame the opposition for violence and disruption of the process which will lead to mass arrest of opposition leaders to give the ruling party an advantage to rig and deny the people the opportunity to give their preferred candidates their mandate. A special security unit being coordinated by the Minister of interior Abdulrahman Dambazzau has already been set up and has commenced work to execute this dastardly plot.

“The security agencies are hereby put on notice that Nigerians will not accept any breach of security being orchestrated by elements of the ruling party disguised in whichever form they choose.

“Nigerians are put on notice to be watchful and vigilant to see through the evil plans of the ravenous group of rulers we have in our country today. They should not be deterred. Their songs of war and plot to rig the elections will be resisted as the Opposition Code 20 will neutralize all their plots.

“APC is already in morbid fear of losing elections and all their shenanigans are like the last futile kicks of a dying horse. Nigerians are also called upon to remain firm and resolute as there are
yet many members within the ruling party and in very high positions that are fed up with the government and daily supply us with relevant leaks and information to counter all their evil plans.

“A lot more of the information are being utilized quietly to neutralize them. This government has failed and Nigerians are no longer in doubt that they are going out on 16th February.”

This was because the main opposition party in the state and its candidate in the election, Senator Ademola Adeleke kicked against the result of the election and dragged the ruling All Progressives Congress and its governorship candidate, Ggoyega Oyetola to court.
The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has dismissed the separate objections filed by the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission against the petition challenging their victory at the September 2018 election.
The Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate in the election had filed the petition urging the tribunal to declare that he polled the highest lawful votes and should be declared the winner.
But Oyetola, APC and INEC  had filed their notices of preliminary objection contending among others that the petition was incompetent and that the court lacked jurisdiction.

Delivering the‎ lead ruling of the three-man tribunal, Justice Peter Obi, held that the objections were misconceived and struck them out.

The tribunal added that the tribunal had jurisdiction to hear the petition. There are two other reserved rulings the tribunal is to deliver before delving into the merit of the petition.

The Justice Ibrahim Sirajo-led three-man bench began delivering judgment at 10.33am on Friday.

It is necessary to remember how the said election happened that led to this legal logjam as the main opposition party made its stand known earlier before heading to the court

Meanwhile, it would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Gboyega Oyetola, candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Osun state governorship election.

Joseph Fuwape, returning officer of the election, made the declaration at the head office of the commission in OsunFuwape said Oyetola polled 255,505 votes to defeat Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 255,023 votes.

Adeleke was leading by a margin of 325 votes in the election which held on Saturday but INEC declared the exercise inconclusive, saying the requirements for a winner to be declared were not met.

It subsequently fixed a rerun for Thursday. The rerun held across seven polling units in four local government areas.

The PDP has rejected the election, describing it as a charade.

Uche Secondus, national chairman of the party, had said the election exposed APC rigging formula for 2019.
Speaking with TheCable at his Ede residenceearlier on Thursday, the PDP candidate accused INEC of conspiring with the ruling party to thwart the will of the people. He said the state was under siege during the rerun, lamenting the attack on his supporters.
“This is not a free and fair election. Osun state is under siege; we are at war in Osun. They didn’t allow my party to vote,” he said. It’s only APC people they allowed to vote. INEC and security agents have compromised. So, there is no election in Osun today. I urge INEC to cancel the election with immediate effect and declare me the winner because I’ve already won the election. ”

Voters, observers and journalists were attacked across the seven polling units where the exercise held.

We have records to show how Buhari, APC rigged presidential election – Buba Galadima

Published

Buba Galadima, Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, has revealed how the incumbent government allegedly rigged last month’s presidential election to retain its grip on power.

Galadima, an estranged ally of incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of using the military to intimidate voters and inflate election results in its favour.

He spoke on Wednesday while appearing as a guest on Channels TV’s breakfast show, Sunrise Daily.

Galadima said the events in Rivers State were evidence of the intimidation.

“It is not an accusation, the military are good candidates of the International Criminal Court. I saw it on television where they were going to houses killing people,” the Atiku spokesperson said.

He claimed that records are available to show that Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, won the presidential election.

“They said they won and want to go to court to inspect the election materials, that is clearly to show they rigged the election.

“I am speaking with authority and I can defend it in the court of law. Have you ever heard that a respondent went to court to check the results of an election because he was not sure his agents did the right thing?” he said.
