The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of deliberately hoarding Permanent Voters Card (PVCs).
Kola Ologbondiyan, its spokesman in a statement on Wednesday called for extension of the collection.
It said the demand was predicated on reports across the nation that some compromised INEC officials at the collection centers are refusing to issue the PVCs to voters thereby frustrating millions of registered voters from getting their voters cards.
“The PDP believes that this deliberate refusal to release the PVCs is part of the wider plot by the APC to disenfranchise millions of Nigerians and frustrate their eagerness to vote out President Muhammadu Buhari at the February 16 Presidential election and elect-in the peoples candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
“The PDP demands explanation from INEC for turning back registered voters who went to collect their PVCs and directing them to come at a later date for an exercise that is programmed to end on Friday.
“Information available to us shows that the APC has plans to use the uncollected PVCs to allocate votes to President Buhari.
“The PDP therefore calls on the leadership of INEC not to plunge the election into a needless controversy but to redeem itself by extending the closing date for the collection of the PVCs by three days”, the statement added.

We have records to show how Buhari, APC rigged presidential election – Buba Galadima
Buba Galadima, Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, has revealed how the incumbent government allegedly rigged last month’s presidential election to retain its grip on power.
Galadima, an estranged ally of incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of using the military to intimidate voters and inflate election results in its favour.
He spoke on Wednesday while appearing as a guest on Channels TV’s breakfast show, Sunrise Daily.
Galadima said the events in Rivers State were evidence of the intimidation.
“It is not an accusation, the military are good candidates of the International Criminal Court. I saw it on television where they were going to houses killing people,” the Atiku spokesperson said.
He claimed that records are available to show that Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, won the presidential election.
“They said they won and want to go to court to inspect the election materials, that is clearly to show they rigged the election.
“I am speaking with authority and I can defend it in the court of law. Have you ever heard that a respondent went to court to check the results of an election because he was not sure his agents did the right thing?” he said.
