As the race for the Premier League gets hotter and tougher, Manchester City welcome Chelsea to the Etihad stadium in what may be a potential title decider. Manchester City leap frogged Liverpool to stay top of the Premier League standings after securing a 2 nil victory over Everton in the mid week fixture. The Citizens have a game in hand over Jurgen Klopp’s wards.

Chelsea take on Manchester City on Sunday afternoon looking to do the Premier League double over the current champions – and Maurizio Sarri has a master plan to achieve it. At Stamford Bridge in December the Blues put in their best performance of the season to seal a 2-0 victory with goals from N’Golo Kante and David Luiz sealing the win.

On that day, Eden Hazard played in the false nine role, while Raheem Sterling played in a similar position for the visitors and Pep Guardiola’s side only had four shots on target throughout the entire encounter. It is unlikely that either of them will be asked to play in that position once again, with Gonzalo Higuain having signed for the Blues and Sergio Aguero fit and firing for City.

The Blues had a lot of success against City in the first Premier League encounter between the two sitting a deeper deeper and springing counter attacks on City.  Sarri believes the way to be victorious over City once again is to beat their high press and do so with pace.

“I think we were lucky [in the 2-0 win], because we scored in a very difficult moment of the match, maybe that we deserved to win in the second half,” Sarri said. “But I think we were lucky in the first half, because we scored in a difficult moment.”

“I think in that match we defended really very well, because they had only three goal opportunities, no more. It’s not easy against Manchester City to give them only three, four opportunities. At home, I think they’ve scored 43 goals in 15 matches. More than three on average. It’s very difficult. We need to defend really very well.”

“We need to be very fast when we are able to recover the ball, because the first lost ball they are able to press really, really very well so it’s very difficult to exit that situation. If we will be able to do it, I think we can find spaces. But it is very difficult.”

Alex Telles has missed Manchester United’s last two matches after testing positive for COVID-19, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

After making his debut against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last week, Telles was left out of the squad that drew 0-0 with Chelsea in the Premier League last weekend.

The defender was also absent as Solskjaer’s side crushed RB Leipzig 5-0 on Wednesday night and Solskjaer has revealed why.

He said: “Telles has tested positive for coronavirus. He’s been out for a few days. No symptoms, he’ll be fine, back soon.”
