Mr Kamugisha said the suspect, who is currently detained at Manafwa Central Police station, will be charged with murder after the investigations. He, however, cautioned parents against torturing their children and any other form of violence in their families, saying it’s a crime. Mr Ahamada Washaki, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), who visited the scene, said the suspect, could have committed the offense under the influence of alcohol. “The suspect was drunk at the time he committed the offence,” he said.

“Mr Washaki said they have launched an operation to crackdown on early drinking and gambling, adding that they also organise meetings to sensitize people on dangers of domestic violence.People no longer but instead wake up early morning to head to drinking joints and gambling centres, which has rendered most of them unproductive, poor and desperate,” he said.

Ms Everline Sellah, one of the neighbours told Daily Monitor, that on the fateful night, the suspect returned home from a drinking spree before asked for his meat. He got angry off after his son confessed to have eaten it. I heard when the son told him that he had eaten it and I knew it would annoy him but I did not expect that he would kill him because of meat,” she said.

Ms Sellah explained that after a few minutes, they heard the suspect making alarm that he had killed his own son. We thought he was joking but when rushed there, we found the child dead. He had strangled him to death,” he said. Mr Juma Zubairi, the area LC3 chairperson said cases of men fighting for meat in their families is still rampant. When men buy meat, they expect to come back home find it and if they do not, they beat up their women and children,” he said.

What should the final verdict be?

One Miss Adiaesup Okon Etukudoh has been remanded in Uyo Prison over alleged child trafficking.

She is also said to belong to a large network of human trafficking gang still at large, which specializes in using fake pregnancies, and newly born children to prey and extort monies from unsuspecting top politicians in the state who they have lured into sexual relationships.

Some of whom have succumbed to their blackmail for fear of being publicly ridiculed for extra marital affairs and remain enslaved financially by the syndicate.

Adiaesup, whose latest effort to trap yet another top government aide has landed her in trouble, is yet to explain to police how she got the two children in her custody allegedly delivered by her in yet to be disclosed hospital for the said top government functionary in Uyo.

It was gathered that after exhaustive investigations by the police, the matter was charged to magistrate court Uyo by the commissioner, Ahmed Zaki in a charge no/mu/332 dated 13th May 2019 before Magistrate Effiong A. Effiong.

The magistrate, who remanded the suspect in Uyo Prison had directed that the said children must be brought to the family court in the next adjourned date.

Adiaesup current predicament started when he alleged that she was pregnant for a senior aide to Governor Emmanuel and disclosed that she got N400,000 from the aide for her upkeep.

According to her, upon delivery of the pregnancy, which she described as cryptic pregnancy that could not be detected by scan, She contacted the politician for more money for children’s upkeep.

The politician ignored her request, this, forcing her to cause a stir at the country home of the governor’s aide when she was denied entry when she stormed the area with the twins.

Sensing blackmail and extortion motive, the politician contacted his lawyer who urged the woman to come to Zenith Bank Uyo with the children and have the bank account opened for their welfare but upon arrival, the police arrested her.

Reports gathered from the police sources indicated that the lady upon investigation could not show any evidence of undergoing antenatal services in any hospital.

The suspect told the investigating officers that the doctor who delivered her of the twins died recently, she could not produce the name of the late doctor, the nurses or midwives that assisted her or the location of the hospital the delivery took place.

Investigations further revealed that the suspect claimed that owning to an undisclosed illness, she should not breast feed the children and had delivered the cryptic pregnancy without any surgery.

She also refused to present the children for DNA test alleging that the result will be doctored in favor of the politician whom she accused of impregnating her.

Security sources said available medical reports showed that the suspected woman had neither being pregnant nor given birth to twins.

Another confounding issues according to the sources is “how a lady with cryptic pregnancy that didn’t show any pregnancy bump could deliver without surgery and allegedly paid a whooping N1.8 million naira for delivery in a hospital she is yet to disclose to them.”

Meanwhile, the mother of the suspect, Mrs. Etukudoh Okon, a nurse, sensing that the matter has become complicated and may land her in jail has asked that the matter be withdrawn from the police and the children (twins) be brought to her custody if the alleged father has refused to own up.

A request described by security agents as ridiculous since the suspect is yet to prove that she is the biological mother of the children.

The security officers investigating the matter said they would get to the root of the matter by ensuring that the actual parents of the two children in the middle of the drama are located to testify how their children found their way to the custody of the suspect.

The question of the said children been stolen from their parents was ruled out.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Odiko Macdon, said the police have investigated the matter and had charged the suspected child trafficker to court and would not comment further on the matter.

“As I am talking to you, we have finished our investigation and hand off the matter, the suspect has been charged to court. Her fate will be decided there, it is no longer within us and I will not comment further on the matter since it is how in court,’ he concluded.

*THE ABODE OF PEACE*

By the buy to the world of drama
Where the little one will greasy like a gasoline
The food of frame, it is ineluctable
Now, he sees life as cold- blooded.

He says,
The pain of today, the memory of tomorrow
How can a soul sacrifice himself for sorrow?
In a trice, the pain is fruitless
After an hazardous journey Hither and thither.

The salty water tag me a friend
What a murderous world, the world of pain
Where our daydream is in coma
The life i see as my one-time play.

In my quest to have a fruit
Not knowing my strive is giving birth to pain
What a world! What a world!
I sense another world is my home

©Ajao

Aloof of all glimpse of it,
Sadness overwhelming.
The course of the world being twisted, twisted by endless struggles,
The Eagle soars high, high enough to fall,
To fall breaking without remedy,
What a world we are!
The vicissitudes are endless with struggles,
Captivating, even piercing to the deepest part of the soul,
The strong has been amputated
The tall being dwarfed, dwarfed by spell of doom
He spell that binds the soul to unprofitable cravings
Cravings leading to demnation
He search for the world of peace is lost,
He search in the after also may not.
