Unknown gunmen have reportedly murdered Boniface Okloho, the All Progressives chairman in Ohimini LGA of Benue State.

DAILY POST gathered that the late Okoloho was reportedly shot and killed yesterday by some yet-to-be-identified assailants, on his way home from a party function.

Confirming the sad development, the All Progressives Congress Governorship (APC) candidate in Benue State, Hon. Emmanuel Jime, strongly condemned the assassination of Okoloho.

Hon. Jime, who expressed deep sorrow over the gruesome murder of the late party chieftain, sued for peace and brotherliness in the of the state, calling on the government of Benue State and security agencies, to fish out the killers of Late Okoloho and bring them to book, to serve as deterrent to others who may want to further the of violence.

“I condemn in very strong terms, this unnecessary politics of violence and bloodshed, that has claimed the life of Mr. Okloho, our beloved brother and staunch member of our great party in Ohimini.

“Mr. Okoloho was one of the very committed leaders of our party in Zone C and we regret that he lost his life in such a horrible circumstance, in the service of his state and his party. May his gentle soul rest in peace,” Jime stated in a statement.

BREAKING: Makinde Recovers, Tests Negative For Coronavirus For Second Time mak

Oyo state , Engineer Seyi Makinde has recovered and tested negative for the second time for coronavirus.

This was made known in a tweet on his official twitter account on Sunday night.

The tweet reads: “I am deeply moved by your prayers and support throughout this period. I am so thankful.

“This evening, I received my second negative test result for COVID-19. I especially thank Prof Temitope Alonge, who acted in my stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force”.

The governor also said that he will be resuming tomorrow (Monday) as the head of the task force in the state.


He said “I am also grateful to all members of the Task Force for their cooperation during this time. I will be resuming my responsibility as Head of the Task Force from tomorrow.”



Recall that we had earlier reported that Makinde tested positive for the virus. A development which made him proceed on self isolation and handed over the Oyo State Covid-19 Task force to Prof Temitope Alonge.


Meanwhile, as at 09:30 pm 5th April, there are 232 confirmed cases, 33 discharged, 5 deaths in Nigeria.


For a breakdown of cases Lagos- 120, FCT- 47, Osun- 20, Oyo- 9, Edo- 9, Bauchi- 6, Akwa Ibom- 5, Kaduna- 5, Ogun- 4, Enugu- 2, Ekiti- 2, Rivers-1, Benue- 1 and Ondo- 1.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced eight new cases of COVID-19.

It said five of the cases are in Lagos, two  in the FCT and one in Kaduna State.

In a tweet on its verified Twitter handle on Sunday evening, NCDC said: “As at 09:30 pm 5th April there are 232 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Thirty-three have been discharged with five deaths.”
