Chelsea fans turned their anger onto under-fire manager Maurizio Sarri during the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Monday night as frustrations grow over the Italian’s of play and refusal to adapt his system. There are rumors that certain players have grown frustrated to the managers philosophy and refusal to play world cup star N’golo Kante in his preferred position.

Arsene Wenger would be a great fit for Chelsea according to former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman. The former Napoli manager is facing an uncertain future in west London with Sunday’s League Cup final against Manchester City, just two weeks after losing 6-0 to the Premier League champions, growing in significance.

Wenger, who has not returned to management since leaving north London after 22 years last summer, has kept his cards close to his chest regarding what will come next for his career, and while it would be unlikely, Seaman thinks he would do well at Stamford Bridge.

“Arsene always said he wouldn’t come back to the Premier League because of his love for Arsenal, that he wouldn’t feel right competing against Arsenal,” Seaman told Talksport. “But obviously time’s a healer and he could think, ‘I want to go back there and prove a few people wrong. For me, Arsene got a lot of criticism that wasn’t deserved over his last few years at Arsenal.’

“It looks like there could be a vacancy at Chelsea quite soon, depending on their next three games which are three big games for Chelsea. He’d be great there, I think. He’d be great anywhere, he’s a fantastic manager. I would love to see him back, but I don’t think it would happen.” Maurizio Sarri admits he is unsure how long he will remain in charge at Stamford Bridge after successive defeats to his Chelsea led side.

“I have to think that I will be the manager of Chelsea for a long time, otherwise I cannot ,” Sarri told a press conference on Wednesday. “I am not sure (if I will be here for a long time), but I have to think this. I have to and I want to with a long-range target. Of course in this moment it’s very difficult to think we’re able to win three, four matches in a row. As you know very well in everything can change in one day. I think we need first of all a good performance, a good result and with more confidence we are able to do anything.”

Do you think Wenger will be an ideal fit for Chelsea? Should Chelsea stick to Sarri?

EPL: Premier League introduces new rules on penalty kick, substitution, handball, cards for managers, others

EPL: Premier League introduces new rules on penalty kick, substitution, handball, cards for managers, others Premier League Rebrands DesignStudio

The International Association Board, IFAB, has approved new rules and changes ahead of the /2020 season.

The 2018/19 Premier League campaign finished last Sunday with Manchester City claiming the title.

The new rules affect Freekicks, substitution, handball, dropball, and cards for managers.

It is already established that video assistant referee, VAR, will be used in the league next season.

These alterations will have a huge impact on the Premier League sides.

The IFAB has clarified the situation in regards to handball decisions ahead of next season

The new rule state that goals will be disallowed if the ball accidentally strikes a player’s hand in the build-up.

A free-kick will also be awarded outside of the penalty box if a player has accidentally created an advantage by handling the ball.

The IFAB has also had its say on drop balls and is aiming to get rid of ‘manufactured’ restarts.

IFAB explained that, “The current dropped ball procedure often leads to a ‘manufactured’ restart which is ‘exploited’ unfairly or an aggressive confrontation.

“Returning the ball to the team that last played it restores what was ‘lost’ when play was stopped, except in the penalty area where it is simpler to return the ball to the goalkeeper.

“To prevent that team gaining an unfair advantage, all players of both teams, except the player receiving the ball, must be at least 4m (4.5 yds) away.”

Another rule which has been introduced for next season sees some major alterations to substitutions.

Now players will have to leave the pitch at the nearest point rather than walk slowly across the field late in games and waste time.

Penalty kicks

This has certainly been overdue with goalkeepers taking advantage on penalty situations for a while now.

But from next season they will have to have one foot on the line.

Not only must keepers be touching the line, they will not be allowed to touch the goalposts before the ball is kicked.

Cards for coaches.

Referees will now be able to show them a yellow card or a red card in the same way they do with players on the pitch.
