Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has donated the sum of N1million for the treatment of ailing actor Baba Suwe who is currently battling chronic diabetes.

Since the news of his illness broke few days ago, the actor has received tremendous support from his colleagues and well wishers. According to actor Yomi Fabiyi, millions have been raised so far.

Part of those who have contributed for Baba Suwe’s treatment is VP Yemi Osinbajo who made his donation through the of the Youth Organising Secretary, APC Lagos, Aregbe Idris.

While making the donation, Osinbajo offered a prayer for the speedy recovery of the actor and also urged more Nigerians to support him.

“God is to us a God of deliverance; and death has no power over your life. I am positive that his healing hands will restore your health and cast out every form of infirmity in your body,” Osinbajo said.

Babatunde Omidina (born August 22, 1958) is a Nigerian actor and comedian popularly known as Baba Suwe.

He was born on August, 1958 in Inabere Street in Lagos Island where he grew up but hails from Ikorodu local government area of Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria. He had his primary education at Jamaitul Islamial Primary in Lagos and Children Boarding , Osogbo before he proceeded to Adekanbi Commercial High in Mile 12, Lagos state but obtained the West African Certificate from Ifeoluwa Grammar in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, southwestern Nigeria .

He began acting in 1972 but came into limelight after he in a movie titled, Omolasan, a film produced by Obalende. He became more popular after he featured in Iru Esin, produced by Olaiya Igwe in 1997. He had featured and produced several Nigerian such as Baba Jaiye jaiye, a movie that featured Funke Akindele and Femi Adebayo, the son of the veteran actor Adebayo Salami. In 2011, he was alleged of cocaine trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, an allegation that was described as false and defamatory by the ruling of the lagos high court of law.His solicitor was the late Bamidele Aturu, a Nigerian lawyer and human right activist.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the re-appointment of Mr. Segun Adeyemi and Mr. Williams Adeleye as his Special Assistants (Media) attached to the of the Minister of Information and Culture.

Mr Joe Mutah, the Chief Press Secretary to the Information and Culture Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said the re-appointment letters of the two SSAs, which were signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, stated that their appointment took effect from Sept. 6, .

Adeyemi and Adeleye served in the same capacity between November 2015 and May 2019.

The Director-General of the Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), Clement Nze, on Monday said 13 states would witness more
flood this year.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Nze said 13 states in the country should be at alert against flood following the rise in the water levels of River Niger and River Benue

Nze listed Kebbi, Niger,Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Edo, Anambra, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Adamawa,Taraba and Benue as being among states to experience flooding.

He said Nigeria was on flood red alert and that the flood sighted in Niger Republic was expected to arrive the Nigerian border through Kebbi State yesterday.

According to him, this was also because of the steady rise of the River Benue owing to the local rainfall with attendant heavy inflows from the tributaries of the river.

He warned that water from six of the nine countries that make up the Niger Basin Authority was pouring into the country and could lead to severe flooding in those states.
