While several reports on current happenings at different polling units in the country have surfaced, Nigerian musician and actor cum politician, Bankole Wellington aka Banky W,  has raised alarm over the absence of  of Representatives ballot papers to enable voters chose their preferred candidate.

In his post he wrote;

 pls see evidence that at Polling unit 13 in Ikoyi, the staff didn’t bring ANY House of Reps ballot papers. Voters were told to only for & . We will monitor the final count to ensure no votes are counted for House of Reps in that Unit 13

He shared the video on his handle. Watch video below;

Celebrities, contesting on the platforms of various political parties, are seeking mostly to represent their constituencies in legislative positions. Singer and actor, Banky W, who is vying to represent Eti-Osa at the Federal House of Representatives, has the most publicised celebrity campaign on social media.

He unveiled his plans to contest under the Modern Democratic Party (MDP) on November 10, 2018 with a social media announcement explaining the need for young people to get involved in the electoral process. Sharing on his Instagram page @bankywellington, he said, “They said we don’t have the money to run, we say our strength lies in our numbers. They say we don’t have the structure, we say we will attempt to build it.”

Following the announcement, other celebrities, including his wife and actress, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, have pledged their support massively, urging other young people to do same. Campaign concerts are held in place of rallies. Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Desmond Elliot, announced on December 10, 2018 that he was seeking re-election in Surulere Constituency 1 of Lagos State House of Assembly, which he currently represents, under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey tweets ‘#EndSARS’ again after being threatened by former presidential aspirant Garba Adamu

CEO has tweeted his support for the #EndSARS movement again after being threatened by former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba.

 

Garba asked Jack Dorsey to stay away from Nigerian politics and threatened to sue him for supporting a protest that “has transformed into a political agitation, capable of breaking law and order in the country”

The threat came after Dorsey tweeted support for the protests holding in to end SARS and police brutality.

 

Following Garba’s threats, Dorsey tweeted again.

 

“#EndSARS” he wrote simply with an emoji of a raised fist in the colours of the Nigerian flag.
