Ademola , candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 governorship in Osun State has been detained by the Police.

This was disclosed in a statement on Monday, by his campaign organisation.

Adeleke was arrested after he had honoured an invitation by the police

The statement read: “We alert the public, diplomatic and democracy community worldwide that the Nigerian Police has arrested and detained Ademola Adeleke on old trumped up charges of certificate and testimonial forgery.

“This is after the principal and authority have through affidavits denied any forgery and owned up to the testimonial issued to Senator Adeleke.

“Senator Adeleke had this morning honoured police invitation at the headquarters, Abuja. He arrived at the headquarters at 9am and was not attended to until later this afternoon when he was informed of fresh charges of testimonial forgery.

“The distinguished Senator was taken to Maitama Police station with plan to arraign him tomorrow at an undisclosed Magistrate court.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the re-appointment of Mr. Segun Adeyemi and Mr. Williams Adeleye as his Special Assistants (Media) attached to the Office of the Minister of Information and Culture.

Mr Joe Mutah, the Chief Press Secretary to the Information and Culture Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said the re-appointment letters of the two SSAs, which were signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, stated that their appointment took effect from Sept. 6, 2019.

Adeyemi and Adeleye served in the same capacity between November 2015 and May 2019.

The Director-General of the Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), Clement Nze, on Monday said 13 states would witness more
flood this year.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Nze said 13 states in the country should be at alert against flood following the rise in the water levels of River Niger and River Benue

Nze listed Kebbi, Niger,Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Edo, Anambra, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Adamawa,Taraba and Benue as being among states to experience flooding.

He said Nigeria was on flood red alert and that the flood sighted in Niger Republic was expected to arrive the Nigerian border through Kebbi State yesterday.

According to him, this was also because of the steady rise of the River Benue owing to the local rainfall with attendant heavy inflows from the tributaries of the river.

He warned that water from six of the nine countries that make up the Niger Basin Authority was pouring into the country and could lead to severe flooding in those states.
