Ahead of 2019-20 season, Chelsea have released five players who their contract ended on June 30, 2019. The Blues are on course to sign a new coach after Maurizio Sarri joins Serie A giants Juventus this summer. Club legend Frank Lampard is heavily linked with the job but concrete news update are yet to be released by the Blues.

Chelsea released an official statement on their website about the departure of five player who their contract ended.

“All five formed a part of our men’s first team squad for all or some of their Chelsea careers, and we would like to wish them the best for the future.”

Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill departs Stamford Bridge a Chelsea legend and a winner after seven-and-a-half years of exemplary service during which time he won the lot. Club captain for the past two years, Cahill played 291 times for the Blues and scored 25 goals. He won eight major trophies, most famously the Champions League in 2012 when he battled injury to play and star in Munich.

Gary will be much missed by everyone at Chelsea. He leaves with everyone’s best wishes.

Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus in January. He was reunited with Maurizio Sarri after their successful time together at Napoli. Higuain made his Blues bow in an FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday, and opened his account with two superbly-taken goals the following weekend against struggling Huddersfield.

He netted three more times before the expiry of his loan, all sharp finishes that highlighted his natural ability in front of goal. Fulham, Burnley and Watford were his victims, and he more than played his part in our eventual third-placed Premier League finish. With Olivier Giroud leading the line in the Europa League, Higuain’s involvement was largely limited to domestic competitions, but he leaves having added another winners’ medal to his extensive collection after victory in Baku.

Rob Green

Rob Green provided experienced cover to Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero during the 2018/19 campaign before announcing his retirement from the game after a long career which concluded in the best possible fashion with victory in Baku. His lifting of the trophy to the joy of his team-mates highlighted his popularity in the dressing room, and we wish Rob well for whatever he chooses to do next in life.

Eduardo signed from Dinamo Zagreb in August 2016 to provide experienced goalkeeper cover and competition for Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic.

That summer he had been part of Portugal’s triumphant Euro 2016 squad and joined the Blues on a one-year contract following two seasons with the Croatian champions. He was an unused substitute in six games in 2016/17 and at the end of the season signed a new one-year contract.

In 2017/18 he continued to provide important support to Thibaut Courtois and newly signed Willy Caballero, and was an unused sub on a further 13 appearances. He spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.

Kyle Scott

Kyle Scott joined Chelsea as an Under-10 from Southampton. A technical and versatile player, he made his youth team debut as an Under-16 at the start of the 2013/14 season.

He figured in both our FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League triumphs the following season, and our successful defences of both competitions in 2015/16. The USA Under-20 international was a part of the pre-season tour of China and Singapore in the summer of 2017, playing in games against Arsenal and Inter Milan.

He was on the bench at the start of the Premier League season and made his one and only Chelsea appearance as a substitute for the last half-hour of a 4-0 FA Cup win over Hull in February 2018.

Send your best wishes to all the five players that left Chelsea for a new challenge…

Coutinho confirm loan approve

Coutinho confirm loan approve coutinho 1

Barcelona has had a busy summer transfer window. They recently announced via Twitter the signing of the summer, Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid. However, they still have work to do in order to keep their status at the top of La Liga.
This could involve some outgoings. It’s obvious that within every club, there will be players that don’t want to remain. In Barcelona’s case, it seems likely that Philippe Coutinho is growing frustrated. He cannot complain about game time too much, however, his future at Camp Nou is under close scrutiny, especially not Griezmann has arrived.
According to Calciomercato, Philippe Coutinho has approved of a move away. The 27-year-old is subject to a 2-year loan spell at his former club Liverpool, with an option to buy at the end of the 2 years for just £88m. The Italian outlet reports that Coutinho is all for a return to England.
Coutinho left Liverpool in a bitter fashion. He left the club because he saw no chance of lifting European silverware with them. Then, just that season in which he was cup-tied, Liverpool reached the Champions League final and lost to Real Madrid.
However, they made amends this season, as they beat Tottenham to the Champions League honour, for the sixth time in their history. Coutinho could have been involved in this achievement, however, Liverpool knocked his new side out of the competition in the semi-finals.
Coutinho is a player of immense flair, so it’s bizarre that it hasn’t worked out for him in Spain. Perhaps Ernesto Valverde wishes to add a new dynamic to the Catalans’ play, but either way, it doesn’t look likely right now that Coutinho will be involved in their future.
On the other hand, the Premier League would welcome back Coutinho with open arms. Given that Eden Hazard has left to join Real Madrid, it would be good to see a player of his magnitude come back to set the English league alight. Liverpool certainly wouldn’t complain either, because it would add further creativity to their electric front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

The Blues are currently across the Irish Sea for a two-game tour, having drawn with Bohemians in Frank Lampard’s first game as manager on Wednesday night.
Ahead of that clash, Lampard’s Chelsea squad trained at Carton House in Maynooth on Tuesday.
And Cech – who has been installed as a technical and performance adviser at Stamford Bridge – was photographed out on the training pitches.
The ex-goalkeeper, who played 494 times in 11 years at Chelsea and won 13 major trophies, took time to have a quick one-to-one chat with the club’s current No 1 keeper Arrizabalaga.

The most expensive shot-stopper in world football after signing from Athletic Bilbao for £71million last summer, the 24-year-old Spaniard kept 14 clean sheets in 36 Premier League matches in his first season at the club.
Arrizabalaga’s first 12 months in west London was somewhat pockmarked by an incident with former manager Maurizio Sarri during the Carabao Cup final in which he refused to be substituted for back-up keeper Willy Caballero ahead of a penalty shoot-out despite having gone down for cramp twice in extra time.
But the Basque-born ace enjoyed a largely positive first campaign as Chelsea finished third in the Premier League and won the Europa League, with Arrizabalaga saving two penalties in a semi-final shoot-out against Eintracht Frankfurt to send his club to the final.
And Chelsea fans are excited to see what he can learn from club legend Cech, who kept 202 shut-outs in the Premier League for Chelsea including a single-season record 24 under Jose Mourinho in 2004-05, despite missing three games that year.

“Makes me feel very safe. Really love this,” said the original Reddit poster, adding an image of Cech and Arrizabalaga in conversation.
“To become the best, you must learn from the best,” wrote one fan in response.
“This. F***ing. Image. I been waiting for this,” reacted another, while one fan added: “Happy to see them together”.
“Let’s put them both in goal and watch the clean sheet records tumble!” joked one supporter.
One other posted: “I can’t believe him [Cech] and Frank are both back. It still feels so surreal.”
“All my anxiety went away after looking at this,” said another.
