The representative of Adamawa North Senatorial District, Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo, has surrendered himself to the police following the viral video in which he assaulted a lady at a sex toy shop in Abuja.
Abbo reported himself at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Thursday.
The Commissioner, FCT Police Command, Bala Ciroma, confirmed the development.
Ciroma said the senator has since been detained.
He said: “Yes, it is true that he has surrendered himself.
“He has already come in and we are investigating.
“He came into the command this afternoon (yesterday) after we sent an invitation letter to him, based on the directive of the IGP, and he honoured it.”
The IGP, Mohammed Adamu, on Wednesday ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault on a female Nigerian by the senator.
Adamu told Ciroma to provide a personal and round-the-clock supervision of every facet of the investigation.
These include the forensic analysis of the video currently in circulation as well as the actions and inactions of the policeman seen in the video footage.

A 25-year-old man, Kehinde Muse, has taken his life after a 21-year-old lady he was dating, Rasheedat Damilola Animashaun, called it quit.
The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Bala Elkana, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Elkana said information about the development was received on September 18, 2019 at about 6:30pm at Surulere Police Station.
He said the information had it that Muse, of 56, Modele Street, Surulere, locked himself in his room and drank a poisonous substance, sniper.
He was rushed to the hospital but died on arrival.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had earlier sent a suicide text message to his ex-girlfriend informing her that he will take his life since she decided to quit the relationship.
Animashaun informed Muse’s family about the text message he sent to her and they rushed to his house, broke the door and found him unconscious.
He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive ive.

A suspected thief has been nabbed by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command while negotiating for the sale of a Honda City car for N400,000.
The suspect, identified as Ebosie Ugochukwu, was apprehended by operatives attached to Mushin Polic e Station on September 15, 2019.
Ugochukwu’s arrest followed a report on the day of his arrest at about 8:35pm by the Chief Security Officer of Farest Mercantile Company Limited, Mushin, Lagos State, Dominic Ukaegbu, that the car, with Registration Number Lagos KRD 755, belonging to the company, was removed from where it was parked.
According to the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Bala Elkana, on the strength of the report, detectives from Mushin Division launched a search.
The vehicle was eventually found along Western Avenue Area of Surulere, Lagos, where Ugochukwu was negotiating for its sale for N400,000.
The suspect, Elkana said, has confessed to the commission of crime, adding that he will be charged to court.
