The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has issued a warning to the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), for threating to emberk on strike over SUG presidents action.

The of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), Comrade Mohammed Eneji, made this known in the article posted on the social media on Monday.

The Federal Polytechnic Ede students blows hot and also issued warning to ASUP Ede, written on the wall tittled warning to ASUP. and made it known that they will not tolerate injustice.

The student national body also warned that they should desist from this act and comply with decision taken by the management on this matter or be ready to be on a logger head with the students community.

NAPS also urge the students of Federal Polytechnic Ede to be calm as their Exams that supposed to commence on Monday 9th, has been shifted to Wednesday 11th, because of the Lecturers refusal to conduct the . And promised the students thst they are on top of the situation as justice must prevail at the end of the day.

WAEC gives update on examination timetable




The West Africa Council (WAEC) has debunked timetable circulating in .

An alleged timetable for 2020 WAEC had circulated on social media over the weekend.

Reports had it that the timetable was released shortly after the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced the resumption of schools in the State.

Recall that Governor Sanwo-Olu had announced that the reopening schools for students in “transitional classes.”

He directed students in Basic Six, JSS 3 and SS3 to resume on August 3rd 2020.

But reacting to an inquiry by a Twitter user identified as Jamiu Kazeem Babatunde, WAEC said the timetable did not emanate from it.

Jamiu Kazeem Babatunde@Jaykaybabs wrote, “I would love if WAEC can attend to this question of circulating time table.

NLC, others say no to resumption of schools




The joint labour unions have decried plans by the federal and state governments to reopen schools, saying the decision is hasty and may not bode well for the country at large.

The unions made this appeal at the weekend after a virtual joint meeting of Labour Congress (NLC) affiliate unions in the education sector.

Among those who participated at the meeting include the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Associated Institutions (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), Senior Staff

Association of Polytechnics (SSANIP), Senior Staff Union of in Colleges of Education, Nigeria (SSUCOEN), National Association of Academic Technologist (NAAT), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP).

In a communiqué signed behalf of the unions by the NLC , Comrade Ayuba Wabba, they noted with concern the social and economic implications of the outbreak of novel coronavirus all over the world which has impaired human activities due to the lockdown measures, which also precipitated the closure of schools.

While expressing worries over the increasing incidences of the infection across the country and the dearth of educational infrastructures in Nigeria’s institutions of learning, which is capable of undermining the physical distance protocol of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the meeting observed that some conscious measures need to be mapped and put in place before re-opening schools in the country.

The unions noted that government should bring all stakeholders in the primary and secondary education sub-sector comprising the unions, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Parent Teachers Association (PTA), Committee of Vice-Chancellors/Provosts of Polytechnics and Colleges of Educations, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCPSS) to deliberate on the way forward on the need to re-open schools.

“There is need to revisit the outsourcing policy of security personnel and cleaners, especially in institutions of higher learning to enable the institutions to have full control of the security personnel and cleaners, as private cleaners and security personnel cannot guarantee the health and safety of staff and students.
