A 25-year-old man, Kehinde Muse, has taken his life after a 21-year-old lady he was dating, Rasheedat Damilola Animashaun, called it quit.
The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Bala Elkana, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Elkana said information about the development was received on September 18, 2019 at about 6:30pm at Surulere Police Station.
He said the information had it that Muse, of 56, Modele Street, Surulere, locked himself in his room and drank a poisonous substance, sniper.
He was rushed to the hospital but died on arrival.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had earlier sent a suicide text message to his ex-girlfriend informing her that he will take his life since she decided to quit the relationship.
Animashaun informed Muse’s family about the text message he sent to her and they rushed to his house, broke the door and found him unconscious.
He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive ive.

A Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, has been told by a 63-year-old man, Oluwatunbosun Fadahunsi, that he thought he was killing a goat while slaughtering his wife, Funmilayo Fadahunsi.
Fadahunsi is standing trial on a one count charge of murder.
According to available in formation, Fadahunsi, who is being tried before Chief Magistrate Charity Adeyanju, committed the offences on October 5, 2019 at about 6:30am at Ita-Ipele Camp, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
He told the court: “She cried for help.
“But at the point of matcheting her, her cry sounded like that of a goat.
“So, I thought I was actually killing a goat.
“It was after killing her that my eyes became clear and I ran away.
“I don’t understand how it all happened.
“Please have mercy on me.
“We only had quarrel over our children school fees.
“I never knew when I matcheted her.
“It was after she died that I realised what I had done.
“Please have mercy on me and help me beg my children.”
The couple had five children together.
The one count charge reads: “That you, Dahunsi Oluwatubosun, ‘m’ on October 5, 2019 at about 6:30am at Ita-Ipele Camp via Owo in the Ondo Magisterial District unlawfully matcheted your wife, Funmilayo Dahunsi ‘f’ on her two hands, head, stomach, neck and her jaw with cutlass to death and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.”
The police prosecutor, Sergeant, Suleiman Abdulateef, told the court that he had filed an application for the remand of the accused person in prison custody pending the advice from the office of the Director for Public Prosecution.
Adeyanju granted the prayer of Abdulateef, ordering the remand of the accused person in the Olokuta Prison Correctional Center pending the advice from the DPP.
Adeyanju adjourned the case till January 13, 2020.

The University of Lagos has set up a panel to investigate two senior lecturers, Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu and Dr. Samuel Oladipo, accused of involvement in the sex-for-admission scandal story uncovered by BBC Africa Eye.
This was announced on Wednesday by the Principal Assistant Registrar (Communication Unit) of the school, Taiwo Oloyede.
According to Oloyede, the panel is headed by Ayodele Atsenuwa, professor of Public Law, Faculty of Law, who is also the incumbent Dean of the faculty.
She said the panel will probe the allegations of sexual harassment levelled against Igbeneghu of the Department of European Languages and Integrated Studies, Faculty of Arts and Oladipo of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences as well as other related cases.
Both of them had earlier been suspended by the University.
The statement said: “As previously announced in the university’s press release dated Monday, October 7, 2019, Dr. Samuel Oladipo who was featured in the full version of the BBC broadcast, has been suspended from work with immediate effect and barred from the university academic areas until the conclusion of the panel’s assignment.
“The university wishes to inform the general public that the panel set up to investigate another allegation of sexual harassment involving a professor in the university in June 2018 still subsists and awaits further information that will aid in concluding the investigation.
“Students and members of staff who have relevant information are encouraged to come forward. Their protection is assured.”
