Chelsea cruised past Burnley in their latest Premier League encounter to retain the fourth spot in the league table. Christian Pulisic was the star of the show, as he scored a perfect hattrick for the Blues. The American footballer broke and matched a few records too by scoring three.
Christian Pulisic turned out to be the match-winner for Chelsea when they faced Burnley in the Premier League. The USA international scored thrice, with Willian adding a fourth, as the Blues cruised to a four-two win.
Here are the records the USA star levelled or broke with his triple for Chelsea:
1. Pulisic became the first player since Didier Drogba to score a perfect hattrick for Chelsea – which means that he scored one goal each from his left foot, right foot, and head. Drogba had done the same in the 2009/10 season when he scored three against Wigan Athletic on the final day, en-route to a title win and a top-scorer award.
2. The 21-year-old also became Chelsea’s youngest player to score a league hattrick. The record itself has now been broken twice this season, with Tammy Abraham claiming it after his treble against Wolves earlier. However, at 21 years and 38 days, the USA international made the record his.
3. Pulisic also became only the second USA player to score a hattrick in the Premier League. Clint Dempsey, known for his time with Fulham, was the first with his last treble coming in 2012.
The youngster will look to retain his spot in the squad when Chelsea face Manchester United in the Carabao Cup mid-week.

Barcelona players are banned from tackling Lionel Messi too hard, one of the club’s former defenders, Jean-Clair Todibo, has revealed.

Messi has struggled with occasional injury in recent years.

And the LaLiga champions have put in place restrictions, to protect the 32-year-old from suffering more knocks

“We all knew that he couldn’t get injured,” Todibo told German outlet Bild.

“Messi was defended very carefully in training.

“I learned a lot from Messi and I even tackled him a few times, but I was careful not to hurt him.”

Messi did not feature in the Copa del Rey defeat of Ibiza, but should return when Barca travel to the Mestalla to take on Valenciaon Saturday.

Big blow for Liverpool as Mane suffers hamstring injury versus Wolves

Big blow for Liverpool as Mane suffers hamstring injury versus Wolves

Sadio Mane was withdrawn just 33 minutes into Liverpool’s English Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday after signaling to be substituted.
The Senegalese was replaced by January signing Takumi Minamino after he went down whilst running through on goal as he sought to fine the net.
Jordan Henderson’s strike proved the difference at Molineux Stadium after heading from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner as the Reds continue their march to win the English topflight diadem.
It is yet to be known the extent of the Senegalese injury as Liverpool set to battle Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp’s men take on the Spaniards, so the English side will have more than enough time to get Mane back to 100% fitness.
Any long-term problem for Mane would be a blow to Jurgen Klopp, the forward having scored 11 and assisted a further six goals in the league this season.
It will be recalled that Naby Keita is yet to recover from a groin injury he picked up during the Reds’ warm-up ahead of their clash against Sheffield United on January 2.
Keita has missed his side’s last three games against Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United due to the injury.
