EPL: Highest goal scorers in Premier League this season [See top 20]

Following the conclusion of the English Premier League, EPL, Match Day 12 fixtures on Sunday, below are the highest goal scorers chasing the golden boot in the English top-flight league.

Leicester City striker, Jamie Vardy is presently the highest goal scorer in the Premier League after he scored a goal in his side’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday to take his tally to 11 goals.

Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham is second place after he scored a goal in his side’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday to take his tally to 10 goals.

Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero failed to score in his side’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. The Argentine international has 9 goals.

COVID-19: Super Eagles striker tests positive for COVID-19

Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu, has tested positive for COVID-19.

However, the results of his fellow Nigerians: Stephen Odey and Cyril Dessers at Belgian club, Genk, came out negative.

The 26-year-old becomes the first Eagles star to test positive for coronavirus that led to the cancellation of suspensions of sports worldwide.

“In the run-up to the first exhibition game of the season, the entire Genk group was tested yesterday (Tuesday).

“Everyone tested negative except Onuachu,” a report on Belgian website hln.be stated.

Onuachu returned to his club on June 28, after he was stranded for a week in Lagos due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic.

‘Lionel Messi will end his working and footballing life at Barcelona’: Club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu rubbishes his exit claims

Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu has said that Lionel Messi will end his career at the club amid reports that the Argentine playmaker is yet to sign a new contract to extend his stay at the Nou Camp.

It was previously reported that the striker indefinitely put contract talks on hold because of issues between the players and the board. But Bartomeu has told Spanish network Movistar that Messi has spoken of his desire to sign new deal and end his career at the club.

‘Messi has said he will end his working and footballing life at Barca,’ Bartomeu said after his side beat Villarreal 4-1 on Sunday, July 5.

‘I’m not going to explain the details because we are focused on the competition and we are negotiating with many players but Messi has explained to us that he wants to stay and so we’re going to enjoy him for much longer.’

The 33-year-old Messi, who signed his last contract in 2017, joined the club through the youth ranks in 2001. He has spent his entire professional career with Barcelona, where he has won a club-record 34 trophies, including ten La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League titles and six Copas del Rey. He has also won a record six Ballon d’Or awards and a record six European Golden Shoes.
