1. Young and Winning
Davido was born on the 21st of December in 1992. That means he’s 26 years old, that puts him at a lower age than Wizkid (28), Olamide (30), Tiwa Savage (39), Yemi Alade(30) and any other Nigerian artist who is also making waves in the music Industry. At such a young age, he is worth about N20 billion naira according to 2019 statistics from Legit.ng
Contrary to popular belief that he is this wealthy because of his family wealth, Davido is hardworking and did not depend on his father’s resources alone, but only used it as a bedrock to build castles for himself. Referring to his elder brother, Adewale Adeleke’s statement in 2016 on this matter, He said “Forget that me and Davido’s father is a billionaire! We hustle like we still ain’t made it reason why we on top! We started this ish is 2011 it’s 2016 and we got a major record deal!”
An article on the fader.com, also talks about Davido’s musical beginnings. Telling his story from his days as a college student at Oakwood university, and how young Davido focused only on music and even dropped out of school. When he returned to Nigeria, his father had him arrested for not returning with the degree he was sent to get. He later made a deal with his father to attend a private university in Nigeria and honour his family by graduating. Davido’s previous manager, Kamal Ajiboye puts it better, he says “People always say, ‘Oh, he’s just some rich kid.’ And he is, but they don’t realize that this music stuff—at first he did it alone.”
2. Breaking new grounds since his first album

3. Successful record label at 23

He signed Dremo and Mayorkun to the DMW record label and they are still signed till this day. In July of 2016, Davido signed a record deal with Sony’s RCA Records. According to Pulse Nigeria, Davido said he renegotiated his contract with Sony due to creative control issues. That shows a high level of business acumen. Being dedication to a path also means you will be eager to garner all the knowledge needed to make the business thrive.

Davido has set down a legacy he will be forever remembered for, his personal achievement can’t be overstated and also has been able to put many Nigerian music stars on the world map. Most of those he put on the map has gone on to be mega stars of their own and some of them are even his rivals today.
The DMW boss even said: “In the beginning, some people never liked me because my dad had the bread. But I think over the years, they have (come) to understand the kind of person I am. I didn’t grow alone, There are so many artistes back home that have used my platform to grow.”
One of the people that Davido made famous are Teckno, Runtown, Humblesmith, Mc Galaxy, Lil Kesh, Mayorkun, Diamond Platnumz etc. The former Tripple MG Signee Tekno, had a song called Holiday which featured Davido. Through this song, he managed to get the attention of the Nigerian audience and make it to big radio stations and more.

Another artist who benefited from Davido’s name was Runtown. The singer gathered airplay when he released Party Like 1980 but his big break didn’t come until he got a verse from Davido. The then HKN chief laced Runtown’s biggest hit, Gallardo with one of his best verses and since then, the former Eric Many artistes has gone on to become a star of his own.
