There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding the futures of some soon-to-be free agents at Chelsea. Olivier Giroud signed a one year contract extension earlier, but Willian and Pedro were yet to put pen to paper to extend their respective contracts.

As a result, fears arose as to whether both players would fail to extend their contracts short term.

Well, it appears those fears have been allayed for now.

Willian and Pedro have both signed short term contract extensions at Chelsea, keeping them at the club till the end of the season.

Both players’ contracts were due to expire on June 30, and failure to sign shirt term extensions today would mean that they would both walk out of the club at the end of thee month.

But now, they have agreed to stay at Stamford Bridge till the end of the season, meaning Frank Lampard will have both players for the rest of the Premier League season.

Pedro has already agreed a contract with AS Roma, and will join up with the Italian aide after the season ends. Willian, meanwhile, is yet to sign for a new club.

This will be great news for Frank Lampard, who faced the prospect of finishing the season without two of his senior wingers, a scenario which would’ve left the team shorthanded as they seek to maintain their hold on a top four spot.

But now, he will have the services of Willian and Pedro till the end of the season.
