Osun Assembly asks Oyetola to unveil post-virus economic plan

The Osun State Assembly has urged Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to roll out post-COVID-19 economic plans for the state.

The Speaker Hon Timothy Owoeye, made this known on Tuesday, during the valedictory session held to celebrate the first year of the seventh Assembly.

Owoeye held that the pandemic has taken a toll on the global economy and every institution especially the arms of government must take an urgent step towards creating a COVID-19 economic conducive environment for the people of the state.

He thereby called on the Osun state government to urgently unveil the post-COVID-19 economic plan in order to protect the people of the state from the harsh effect of the pandemic adding that the assembly will present stimulus bill that will greatly assist the people and better the economy.

He noted that the seventh Assembly in the first year, has passed eight bills and delivered six agenda including; quality legislation, effective oversight, accountability, e-parliament, public engagement and legislative research centre.

At the valedictory session, the Osun State governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, deputy, Benedict Alabi, other State executive members and four former Speakers of the assembly all rallied round the lawmakers.

Oyetola lauded the 7th Assembly for being supportive of the other two arms of government particularly the Executive without compromising its independence in the last one year.

Furthermore, Oyetola sought for continued legislative support and appealed to members of the House to continue to enact pro-masses laws that would aid the government to deliver good governance, development and prosperity for the people of the state.
